You’re buying commercial carpet cleaner from a local carpet cleaner for about $10.
This might seem like a bargain.
But a closer look reveals a lot of wasted money.
The commercial carpet cleaning industry relies heavily on donations to sustain its operations.
Commercial carpet cleaners also offer a variety of products that can be found in local grocery stores, online and on e-commerce.
But if you’re buying carpet cleaner online or online, you’re paying for a product that’s likely to be of lower quality.
For example, carpet cleaner shampoo and conditioner is usually made from a product called oxyacetylene (OAT) which is often a waste product that can’t be recycled.
Commercial cleaners can also make false claims on the label of their products, or may be misleading about their ingredients, says Alison Whitehead, who runs a carpet cleaning company called Clean-Up Australia.
Consumers should be cautious, says Whitehead.
If you buy carpet cleaner in a store or online for $10, she says, you might be paying more than what the manufacturer is actually charging.
She also advises consumers to make sure they’re getting a reliable product.
“I’ve had people buy products that were not really from a reputable manufacturer,” she says.
“If they’re using cheap commercial carpet, they’re putting a lot into it.
You want to make a careful choice.”
So how much is too much?
Commercial carpet cleaning companies can advertise a product as being from a manufacturer that makes products that are safe and effective.
The best carpet cleaning products are also made from recycled material, which is less likely to end up in landfills.
But you should always check a commercial carpet or rug cleaner’s ingredients before you buy it.
That includes what ingredients are in the product, says Michelle Wieser, an associate professor of pharmacy at the University of Western Australia.
She says you should also check that the company is certified by a health authority, and that the product has been tested to see whether it’s safe for your body.
If your product contains toxic substances or chemicals, you should wash it out with soap and water before use, says Wiesers.
But it’s not just about how much carpet cleaner is used.
Commercial cleaning products also come in a range of sizes and styles, and many come with extra ingredients that can make a difference to your results.
For instance, there’s a popular commercial rug cleaner with an array of different types of ingredients, including a high-strength ammonia and a chemical called diazolidinyl urea (DUI), says Wyser.
“It’s really a lot, it’s very toxic, and you can’t really use that in a commercial setting.”
Commercial carpet cleaner manufacturers often make a range with different levels of chemicals, says Laura Leitenberg, a consumer health expert at the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
If there are concerns about the amount of chemicals in the commercial carpeting cleaner, you can ask the manufacturer to remove the chemicals.
“We also suggest that people who buy commercial carpet in their home do a bit of research about the products they are using,” she explains.
“A lot of people don’t even know that they are doing something that they aren’t supposed to be doing.”
Commercial cleaning companies also often sell products without labels, so you don’t know exactly what the ingredients are.
“Some manufacturers just list the ingredients on the back of the box,” says Whiteheads.
“That’s fine if you don, you just don’t need to see that label.”
You might also need to do some research to find the best product for your needs.
“You need to have a good sense of where your money is going,” says Leitenburg.
“The product you buy should have an ingredient you can trust.”
Some commercial carpet products may be labeled as ‘organic’, ‘free range’, ‘organic’ or ‘natural’ but you might need to check the ingredients, Wieses says.

“They need to be transparent about the ingredients and what they’re actually using,” says Wowser.
Consumers also need more information about the brands of carpet cleaners, so they can make informed buying decisions.
If a company is misleading you about their products and you don the information, you could end up paying more.
“Consumers need to know about the product they are buying, and they need to make informed decisions,” says Sarah Walshe, an independent consumer advocate and consumer health advocate.
If someone has a complaint, ask to speak to a counsellor.
“Be aware of any products you may be considering buying and if you want to try something else, be aware that you can still have a better quality of carpet cleaning,” says Dr Wiese.
The biggest risk of buying carpet cleaning at the supermarket is the packaging, says Leib
