The man who found a cache of 2,500 carpet cleaning equipment in a home in Houston has claimed it was not the first time his house had been burglarized, according to a report.
The man, who did not want to be identified, told KPRC that the device was found in the bedroom of his home in March 2017.
The homeowner, who lives with his mother, has a pet dog, so it’s unclear if the device belonged to him or his mother.
It’s not clear how long the device has been there.
In his report, the homeowner also said the device appeared to be the work of an individual with a criminal record.
The Houston Chronicle reported on Monday that investigators found a black box inside the home.
The box was in the kitchen and was missing a timer.
The device is believed to be connected to the burglary of another Houston home, but the home’s owner did not report the incident to police, the paper reported.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating.
